the treasure Glasgow's shield The buffalo skin shield, decorated in silver, was returned by an Scottish academic.
The shield had been in her family since it was bought from a dealer by her grandfather in Glasgow in the 1890s. Ms Wilson said: "Throughout my childhood the shield was hanging in the dining room of my parents' house. "Everyone believed it was Scottish but I discovered that I had become, without realising it, the keeper of a small part of Ethiopia's historical heritage and national treasure and decided it should be returned." The academic handed the heirloom over to the Institute of Ethiopian Studies of the University of Addis Ababa at a ceremony at her university. Read more on the return.
